ANTI ORTHOism, A Step by Step Process

This is for the future generations who will populate the Earth long after I've departed. What was art like back in the early 21st Century? Oh there were artists scrambling, trying desperately to find themselves. "Everything has already been done," is what a few of my customers during my time at Blick Art Materials in Pasadena, California said to me. "All the great ideas have been taken." I would tell my customers that if all the expended ideas was represented by water filling a glass, than that glass may be somewhere in the realm of 20% full, maybe far less.

I believe if painters limit themselves to these ridiculous, rectangular shaped canvases, than perhaps their glass is closer to full capacity. There is far more ground to be covered. Once upon a time, the world was flat, humans would never fly, and space travel was science fiction. Human beings will continue to evolve as time progresses. Art will develop into things we can't imagine. I once was lost in art too. I would draw really pretty drawings which drew much attention because of their realism. I began to wonder if I would spend the remainder of my life producing drawing after drawing. Compliments are nice, but at some point the artist either becomes content or strives to evolve.

In 2014 I took a little trip into the future. I built a time machine and traveled to the year 2114. I spent a great deal of time looking at art in this future world. The manner in which people today joke about old technology is similar to the conversations of Rectangular canvas painting and how for centuries artists were trapped inside of them. During re-entry into 2014, my time machine was destroyed. I almost didn't make it back. I did survive and I can now share what I learned about the Art World of the future.

I'm now this Hybrid Artist with unorthodox beliefs. I have the tools to develop a new genre. I've introduced it to the world around me but I understand that my audience probably hasn't been born. That's okay with me because now I have a tremendous opportunity to leave something behind, when I'm gone.
